Welcome to Mazama

The unincorporated community of Mazama is situated at the northwestern end of the Methow Valley near the headwaters of the beautiful Methow River. Due west, you’ll enter the wild, dramatic North Cascade mountains via Washington and Rainy Passes on the Cascade Loop Scenic Highway (WA State Route 20).

Natural features of Mazama and the surrounding territory include rushing Early Winters Creek, icy turquoise Lost River, iconic Goat Peak, complete with the historic Fire Lookout and Goat Wall, a long-time destination for rock climbers. Close by (via Forest Service road) is Hart’s Pass, featuring access to the Pacific Crest Trail and the Pasayten Wilderness. At over 6000’, this is the highest point in Washington State where you can drive a car.

The Mazama Store serves as the hub of ‘town’, offering “a little bit of everything good”. In all directions from the store and tucked enticingly in scenic settings, you’ll find working ranches, full-time residences, stylish, contemporary second homes, and rustic getaway cabins.

All about outdoor recreation, residents and visitors both enjoy the Methow Trails, offering the most extensive Nordic ski trail system in the US, also used for snowshoeing & snow bikes. Summer hiking, mountain biking, fishing, horse pack trips, camping, Heli-skiing, backcountry skiing, and paragliding are just some of the ways you can enjoy the great outdoors!

Great restaurants, lodging, and a few shops round out the Mazama experience.
